A pastor friend told me recently that when she went to find her last sermon based on the set of readings we use this coming Sunday, she realized it was the Sunday after 9/11. That was a jarring reminder to both of us.
As we approach the third anniversary of that tragedy, I am reminded of several pieces of writing which have stayed with me. The first is called Rest in Peace: 2001 and the second, written a year later, is its sequel in 2002. I commend these to you, as well as asking your prayers for our country and our world as we seek, three years later, to comprehend what happened that terrible day.
